The treatment itself lasts about 2 hours. If possible, take the rest of the day off, so you can cool the area after treatment while the anesthesia wears off. The day after the treatment, you can go to work as usual.

Wear a tank top, possibly in a dark color, since an iodine test might be needed, and it can discolor clothing permanently.

During the treatment you lie on your back with your arms above your head. If you have back problems or shoulder problems, and/or difficulty lying with your arms over your head, it is important that you tell your doctor before the treatment.

You are welcome to bring headphones and an iPod for entertainment, during the treatment.

The treatment itself is usually not associated with any discomfort or pain, but local anesthesia stings briefly, as you may have experienced during dental treatment.
